Jakarta produced less waste during Eid al-Fitr holiday, with the amount of waste sent to Bantar Gebang landfill in Bekasi, West Java, decreasing from around 2,142 tons per day compared to last year, which reached 2,195 tons.

Jakarta Environmental (LH) Agency Acting Head, Syaripudin said this year waste transported from Bantar Gebang used 405 truck trips.
"Last year we used 432 trips," he expressed, Friday (5/14).

"The tonnage of waste sent several days before Eid has increased due to the emptying of the Dipo and TPS. It is done to give silahturami (communal bonds) opportunity with family for truck drivers," he stated.
He explained the landfill would continue to operate during Eid al-Fitr until 4 AM and reopen at 10 AM.
"Every day the average time a dump truck queues, weighs and unloads the waste there is only 3 hours 47 minutes. This is an indicator that the Bantar Gebang operational remains normal," he stated.
